Descartes MacroPoint FraudGuard 2.0 helps businesses closely monitor transportation, detect fraud early, protect goods and minimize risks in the supply chain.

Descartes Systems Group has introduced Descartes MacroPoint FraudGuard 2.0, the latest advancement in anti-fraud technology designed to help carriers, freight brokers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) protect their businesses from increasingly sophisticated forms of fraud and cargo theft.

This upgrade adds pre-contract, pickup, and in-transit shipment monitoring capabilities, enabling businesses to maintain a high-quality, compliant carrier network while increasing confidence in operational decisions. The technology also helps detect and mitigate risks associated with identity theft and double brokerage, thereby avoiding insurance, liability, and brand reputation losses.

"Descartes MacroPoint FraudGuard 2.0 brings a new level of transportation visibility and control with advanced alerting and investigation tools, helping businesses better protect their goods, reputation and profits," said Robert Derin, Descartes' Chief Product Officer. "This solution enhances compliance with enhanced security measures, helping shippers, brokers and logistics providers improve their service competitiveness, significantly reduce fraud losses and reduce incident handling costs."

FraudGuard 2.0 features expanded visibility and protection for transportation with real-time and historical shipment tracking data, automated end-to-end monitoring, and instant risk alerts. Businesses can verify carrier and driver legitimacy without slowing down the distribution process with Descartes MacroPoint’s proprietary transportation tracking data warehouse.

The carrier and driver lookup tool allows for quick access to historical performance and risk profiles via DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) or driver phone number, including the number of shipments being tracked, volume, and previous fraud indicators. This supports optimal planning and partner selection.

In addition, the technology also includes customizable alerts for carriers and drivers to identify new or suspicious entities. Drivers using virtual phone numbers (VoIP) to hide their identity, or units receiving excessive orders or showing signs of data falsification. Businesses can proactively block high-risk carriers before sharing cargo information.

FraudGuard 2.0 also helps monitor risks during the journey, providing real-time alerts, supporting rapid response to signs of theft or unusual interference. The system continuously monitors before the time of pickup to detect suspicious behavior such as GPS/IP location spoofing, going off route, unusual speed or stopping at unreasonable points.

The launch of FraudGuard 2.0 marks a major step forward for Descartes in its efforts to protect global supply chains against increasing security challenges.
